6th Grade Lesson
Ms. Young's 6th grade SPED students constructed arguments supported by evidence for how increases in human population and per-capita consumption of natural resources impact earth’s systems. Students studied human consumption of food, water, and energy and identified how consumption affects Earth’s systems. This lesson was taught on 10/10/17 and was part of a larger unit about the environment.

This bulletin board from Ms. Young's class showcases work from the entire unit, including the lesson on human population and consumption.
Ms. Young has her students work on many environmental issues, as evidenced by her bulletin boards and student work.
7th Grade Lesson
Ms. Robinson's and Ms. Young's 7th grade SPED students are constructing a model or developing a scientific explanation to describe the cycling of Earth’s materials and the flow of energy that drive this process. On a daily basis, students are working to distinguish between rocks and minerals; identifying rocks and minerals; describing and visualizing the rock cycle; examining rock clues to determine how they are formed; and explaining how weathering and erosion change the shape of the Earth. This lesson is being taught from 3/1/18 to 4/2/18.

8th Grade Lesson
Mr. Cox's 8th grade science class focused for a unit on electric energy as well as other renewable energy sources. During the unit, students will be able to build an electronic motor; describe the differences between a series and parallel circuit; build a series of parallel circuits and create an electrical plan for their classroom; describe the process of producing electric energy; and identify, compare, and contrast renewable versus non-renewable resources. This lesson was on 1/3-4/18.

Mr. Cox's students use WebQuest (https://www.eia.gov/kids/index.cfm) to access environmental lessons online:
Mr. Cox teaches multiple environmental lessons throughout the year, as evidenced by the collages around his room (as shown above).
High School Science Lesson
Ms. Padgett's Chemistry students were able to explain the relationship between increases in CO2 levels and temperature by completing a lab. The unit culminated in students composing an essay where they take a stance of whether or not Uranium is a good or bad thing for the environment. This lesson was taught on 1/21/18.

High School Biology Class
Ms. Clawson's Unit 3 of Biology was based on Ecosystems. as shown in her bulletin board above. Ms. Clawson teaches high school students, grades 9-10.
High School Math Lesson
Mr. Bohorquez's 10-12th grade SPED students studied global warming and the effects of greenhouse gases. Students measured, collected, and graphed measurement data to answer questions about global warming and greenhouse gases as well as solve one and two-step problems. This lesson was taught on 3/12/18.

High School Art Lesson
Ms. Columbus and Ms. Stiver had their students create sculptures out of used cardboard and newspaper in order to make art that is environmentally sound. Students learned the importance of balancing freedom and responsibility and how materials may impact human health and the environment. This lesson was taught on 4/4/17.

High School English Lesson
Ms. McDonald's 12th grade College Readiness English class read, annotated, and discussed informational text about issues related to separating trash from recycling materials and then participated in an activity where they "separated" trash pictures from recyclable pictures. This lesson was on 3/1/18.
